That’s what they are saying. And I agree. Not a competitor to Roskilde, Sonar or Hove – but a cozy festival for meeting up with old friends you haven’t seen for ages, get the spirit of the Norwegian harsh weather, listen to contemporary summer music and eat from the big table of food, for free. Just remember to bring you own food for sharing!
Sommerfesten på Giske (The Summer Festival in Giske) on the west coast of Norway is coming up the 31th of July. On the island right next to my own! A festival for music lovers of all ages, I’ll expect to meet 2 year olds and 80 year olds. Fun!
Let’s hope the weather is turning out to be lovely, and pray for the rain to back off. Some of the artists playing this year are Damien Rice, Tom McRae, Susanne Sundfør, Thom Hell, Minor Majority, Casiokids, Robert Post, Number Seven Dehli and of course the band that arrange it all with some support from the locals; The Margarets. Listen to some of tracks you can expect to hear on the dedicated playlist on Spotify!
While I’m waiting for the summer fun to start, I’m sharing some pictures from last year’s (rainy) festival.

The festival doesn’t have a cover fee, but you are encouraged to support the festival by giving your contribute in the entrance.
See you there?
